New JFrog-Datadog integration aims to streamline cloud migrations and log analysis

Software supply chain company JFrog Ltd. today announced a new integration with application monitoring and security platform provider Datadog Inc. that gives developers visibility into logs for JFrog-managed instances of Artifactory in the cloud.

The integration sees JFrog SaaS Log Streamer integrating with Datadog to allow organizations to increase efficiency by enabling users to select and prioritize the most important logs and focus on the items that produce the most significant business impact.

The integration seeks to address issues that arise during the rapid switch to cloud platforms. The JFrog SaaS Log Stream integration with Datadog accelerates cloud migration by centralizing log data and making it available to developers to access from anywhere with a prebuilt Datadog dashboard.

The logs provide visibility and insight into software usage trends, including in JFrog Artiactory-Request Logs. Users can monitor incoming Artifactory requests to track the trend of all requests based on HTTP status codes and request methods to gain insights such as which artifacts are the most requested and by whom.

The integration provides additional details from access logs including which entities are accessing or attempting to access JFrog instances. The ability helps security efforts by identifying who, when and from where non-users are attempting to access an instance.

Through Datalog Log Management, users gain access to unified logs, metrics and traces in a single view, giving customers rich context for analyzing log data. Whether for troubleshooting issues, optimizing performance or investigating security threats, the logs are said to provide a cost-effective, scalable approach to centralized log management with complete visibility across the software stack.

“Cloud migrations often introduce many complexities for developer troubleshooting. But the JFrog SaaS Log Streamer integration with Datadog simplifies onboarding and operations, making it easy to diagnose issues using contextual insights and by correlating logs with metrics,” said Pranay Kamat, Director of Product Management, Datadog. “Integrating with Flex logs helps deliver the best developer experience to our joint customers as they develop and monitor their cloud-based or hybrid applications in a cost-effective way.”
