Stir Kinetic Desk

Many of us spend hours in front of a computer, forgetting to take breaks when we’re swamped with work. Now there’s a smart desk that learns your activities and tells you when you need to move to keep you you energized throughout the day.

Meet the Stir Kinetic Desk, a work station that can automatically adjust to your preset sitting or standing position in a matter of seconds. It has a built-in touchscreen which you use to set your desired sitting and standing heights for the desk, as well as set your standing goals to ensure that you don’t spend your entire day just sitting. Double tapping the touchscreen, the desk automatically and quietly shifts to the next.

The Stir Kinetic Desk also senses your presence when you step into the room, analyzing how long you have been standing and the extra calories you burn by standing or sitting throughout the day.

The Stir Kinect Desk supports WiFi and Bluetooth connectivity for syncing with fitness apps, as well as a compartment for charging devices while keeping the desk clutter-free. The Stir Kinect Desk is priced at $3,890.

Acquisition boosts smart building initiatives

Single Digits, Inc., the white-label network operator for property owners, has acquired fixed wireless broadband provider Spectra Access, Inc. to boost its effort in the smart building market. With the acquisition, Single Digits can now sell high speed data and voice solutions to hundreds of Class A buildings.

“This acquisition complements the organic growth we are experiencing with property owners in hospitality, retail and commercial office space by strengthening our cloud footprint and enabling us to leverage more scale with the carriers,” explained Bob Goldstein, CEO of Single Digits. “Spectra Access’ WAN and RF engineering talent will quickly integrate into our core operation, while their physical network and key building relationships will help us quickly grow our Smart Building technology platform.”

As for Spectra Access clients, they will now have access to Single Digits’ round-the-clock support center that offers both customer service and network operations technicians.

New partnership for smart city innovation

Primeur Group, a Premier IBM Business Partner and one of the main producers of middleware solutions for heterogeneous IT systems, has entered an agreement that will integrate its IBM MAXIMO Asset Management with Paradox Engineering SA’s PE.AMI Smart City network platform. The partnership will provide extended value proposition to customers looking for Internet of Things solutions for smart cities, M2M and the broader smart market.
