Anton Wahlman put together a very clear-spoken and thorough explanation of the financial crisis yesterday so that even armchair economists like myself can understand it. Sean Percival of Lalawag replied via Friendfeed yesterday to Anton’s post with a video by Jonathan Jarvis that visually explains not just the genesis of the crisis, but all those arcane economic terms that have bandied about by Senators, CNBC pundits and bloggers as if we all understand what they mean.
Jonathan created the work as a part of his thesis work in the Media Design Program, a graduate studio at the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, California, and is definitely visually appealing.
The real question is (for those that know better): is this an accurate depiction? This particular explanation does a decent job of explaining the process without casting aspersions on any particular person, group or party (though Alan Greenspan looks a little foolish in this version).
