Palm finished off a great week of news announcing on Saturday that they are opening up their developer program after initial access was only for more established firms. Earlier in the week it was reported that the 1 million download mark was hit for their App Catalog. Then it was earnings time for Palm as they beat expectations and are looking at a strong second half of the year as early Pre sales will start to show up in their bottom line.
Saturday morning we here at SA Labs got our official acceptance email:
Welcome to the Palm Mojo SDK early access program! We have approved your application, and you are now able to sign on, download the SDK and start coding.
The SDK is still in “pre release” form and thus deemed confidential. We will start to dig around some and as soon as we are able to maybe get some more in depth converge from a developers perspective.
It’s off to the races now for developers. The pent up demand will have people cranking out some html/js webOS goodness at a pretty rapid click. Taking what Rubenstein said in the earnings call developers will have the next couple of months to get their apps together and sometime in September expect to remove the “pre release” label, fully opening the catalog and dev program.
For those interested you can go to the developer site to register.
