Google Reader may not be the best solution – I find it works best when
you're at a keyboard.
Friendfeed can be configured as a pretty decent RSS reader and it has
advanced sharing capabilities. That might be your solution.

Thats available, I think. There's a bookmarklet somewhere for Firefox/IE
that does that.

Next, I want to be able to add a random post to my shared feed. By random, I mean something I “find” online, not in my feed.

What amazes me is just how big the entire concept of social networks has become. Everything we do is now part of this huge, world-wide group of networks. That's overwhelming. Re: the changes to Google Reader, they are doing their thing to remain competitive in a world where social networking rules. Amazing!
