There has been a fair amount of mobile hub-bub this week, what with Apple making iPod announcements and Motorola announcing their new Android based device. Palm is set to make some noise of their own by officially announcing what is currently being dubbed the Palm Pixie.
Originally dubbed the Palm Eos, the Pixie, if it is actually called that, is rumored to be released later in the year for the holiday season. After rumors of the device going to AT&T it looks like Palm is still sticking with its webOS launch partner in Sprint, at least for the time being.
We will know more shortly but given the current information that is leaked and confirmed, I have mixed feelings on this new device.
From a design perspective it is fantastic, thin, sleek, touch screen and full keyboard. From a feature perspective it is a step down from the Pre with no WiFi support and a 2 megapixel camera instead of the Pre's 3 megapixel.
Current assumed pricing is around the $100 range which ain’t bad, but ain’t all that great either when compared to a clearance iPhone.
We will keep our eyes open and ears to the ground as the announcement drops and will provide updates as necessary.
