Bret Piatt is “the Cloud Guy” at Rackspace.
His title is “Technical Alliance Manager” for the Rackspace Cloud hosting operation — which means he’s in charge of developing or finding and refining tools to make life easier for such people as Web designers.
Almost every aspect of Web development and applications is becoming faster and cheaper, he says in this video, pointing out that not so long ago many millions of dollars were needed to get promising technologies started.
“The (financial) barriers to entry (today) on a lot of these technology advancements (are) going way down.”
And, right along with faster and cheaper is simpler to use, he says.
“It doesn’t do us any good to build a magic technology widget if people don’t understand how to make use of it,” says Piatt.
