I agree that blog commenting has shape into another form but it is stilll a good way to bring some traffic to your site. Surely there're some requirements coments should meet in order to bring traffic. But again, It's a SEO technique and it's still lives.

Roger Ebert's blog - perfect example of a high profile guy with comments turned on. The comments are almost always as entertaining as the post itself.

I'm with Otto, "if you're writing a blog in order to make money, then I'd say you're doing it wrong". Even if you DO want to make money that can NOT be your primary purpose.

While I recognize that some people may be too busy or too "famous" to want to answer comments in their blogs they're missing all the great feedback and clarification and elaboration those comments provide. There is often more quality information to be found in my blog's comments than was in the original post.

Blogging is a great way to share what you know with many in the same amount of time it takes to teach it to one or a few. If you truly want to share the communication MUST include your readers.

Indeed. Both are fairly entertaining, but modern and successful blog sites are questionable claims at best, as compared with comparable personality based humor blogs.

Agreed. "Success" can only be defined in relation to a "goal", which is defined by you, not by somebody else. He seems to define success as solely financially based, as far as I can tell. However, if you're writing a blog in order to make money, then I'd say you're doing it wrong.

Also, anybody that defines "Tucker Max and Maddox" as examples of "success" is clearly delusional and/or psychotic. ;-)
