Welcome back.

SALabs has a data tap into Twitter data and have been looking at the data around content sharing. When I look at the data here is what I’m seeing for Twitter usage and platform popularity.

Here is the list of the most popular domain platforms for sharing on Twitter

1. Web

Obviously, the web based interface found at Twitter.com. Despite being perhaps the least efficient way to use the site, it’s still the most popular method.

2. Twitterfeed

Offers to tweet the last posts published in a blog via the RSS feed.

3. API – Twitter API

The Twitter API is a catch-all for a lot of clients, all third party of some kind, that don’t set a client-type.

4. TweetDeck

Client software and mobile app generally geared towards the Twitter power user, and supports the status streams of many different social services, including MySpace and Facebook.

5. UberTwitter

Probably the most surprising entry on the list, UberTwitter is an interface designed for the BlackBerry line of mobile phones.

6. TwitPic

Hands down the most popular picture site for Twitter, and quite possibly the most popular web app built on Twitter, the site is integrated with most other third party clients, and allows users the ability to send pictures on Twitter.

7. Facebook

Facebook. It’s a social network. You may have heard of it.

8. Echofon

Echofon for iPhone “TwitterFon” and for Firefox “TwitterFox”.

9. HootSuite

Professional Twitter client, again, geared towards power users.

10. Tweetie

A trendy IPhone Twitter app, built for multiple accounts generally regarded as one of the more refined iPhone Twitter experiences.

Clearly the Blackberry is popular. Tons of other players are not on here and are most likely spread across the API and Web domains.

All commentary and additional information welcome – this is only for Twitter sharing when people “flip links” or RT to their friends and graphs.

I'm surprised that the API is ranked so high.

But the real story is that I think you fudged the headline: shouldn't it be:

"Blackberry users more active on Twitter than iPhone users"

    That's pure techmeme juice baby!

  2. Interesting. I ditched Tweetdeck for Hootsuite a while back. I really hate Tweetdeck though I know others love it. I use Twitterberry for BBerry. I tried Ubertwitter after someone I know sang its praises but it was too much for me. I don't let twitter control my smartphone experience.

Hey Ethan you're right we should have said that instead

“Blackberry users more active on Twitter than iPhone users”

We have more data to share beyond this.

and this is why the numbers saying Twitter has flat lined are BS. Traffic to the SITE has flatlined, not the service
