I wrote my own booth babe post on my blog: http://www.misadventureswithandi.com/2010/01/ces-porn.html. As a professional woman in high tech I am annoyed and embarrassed when I walk around CES and have to be exposed to that. I am not a prude I just don't think that these women belong at CES and I want CEA to do something about it, and I want people to react negatively to the companies who continue to propagate this thing.

Hilarious! But also pragmatic, which I can appreciate.

Sounds like what you're saying is that the booth babes aren't working for their intended purposes, at least on you (one vote for antiquated and "useless", noted).

So my worldview may be slightly distorted given that I have spent almost my entire adult life in Las Vegas ... and things that are completely normal here, probably aren't elsewhere ... That being said I am all for the booth babes for my own twisted reasons ... I could care less about booth babes for there intended purpose, they don't draw me to the booth because ... why look if you can't touch. I don't mean to be too crass, but seriously, the girls are working, their defenses are up, it is not a good place to actually connect with people. I am all about business at the conventions, and the only thing that is going to attract me to a booth is a good product and someone who can talk intelligently about it. That being said, there is a portion of attendees that are attracted by the booth babes ... even though you may not count yourself as part of that group it is hard to deny they are there, so I think the booth babes are a good investment. But even if they aren't ... my ulterior motive is that, I am a single guy living in Vegas, which is awesome. The booth babe industry provides a steady flow of employment for hotties, which makes a significant contribution to the las vegas singles community ... so rock on booth babes!
