Logitech Harmony Remote for Google TV now on Android
This app, originally released only to testers last month, has finally been pushed up to the Android market. The app will only work with the Logitech Revue set-top box—but it allows control via your WiFi home network and knocks you down one remote control. (Although, the Revue does come with one already, in the guise of a keyboard.) From Phandroid,
Just as soon as Best Buy’s started shipping out the Logitech Revue, Logitech’s gone ahead and released their Android-based companion app – Logitech Harmony Remote – in the Android market. Just as you’d expect it to, this app will allow you to control your Google TV from your Android-powered device over a WiFi network. It will only work with the Revue companion set-top box and over a WiFi connection, of course, but if you don’t think you’ll get along with the hardware and would rather use a free solution, then you shouldn’t still be reading this. Go download!
The Logitech Revue set-top box looks to be an extremely powerful web-to-TV plus television device, and that it includes Google TV is another mega step for the Internet TV market. It also contains apps for Netflix, Pandora, Amazon Video, and Twitter (should you really have a burning need to see/send tweets from your living room TV.)
Being able to control your set-top-box with your Android? Bonus. This is the latest step towards total Google TV domination, which garnered several partners, including Logitech. Get ready.
