Boxee Box Kicks Off November 10, Vudu to Stream HD

D-link’s newest Boxee Box is set to ship its pre-ordered units, which were ordered beginning in September,  this November 10, the company announced this week. For customers outside US specifically Canada, Australia, New Zealand and the UK, pre-order is available straight from D-link, the manufacturing device. For other US vendors, it will be available in-store and online in November 17 while international shipping will come soon after.

“We’ve seen amazing demand for the Boxee Box across all of our pre-order partners in the U.S. and internationally,” Rod St. Michel, vice president of consumer sales at D-Link, said in a statement. “Consumers are looking for the right product to get their favorite TV shows and movies onto their TV from the Internet and their home network, and the Boxee Box is the friendliest, and most consumer-ready product currently available.”

A launch party for the product will be held on November 10 in New York City. A demo of a new version of Boxee software initially available on the Boxee Box and is expected to go on sale for PCs, the Mac and Linux will be demonstrated.

The price is set at $199.As a media streaming box, it supports full 1080p HD video and 5.1-channel surround sound. It is powered by Intel’s Atom CE4100.

Additionally, Boxee Box can stream HD video through a partnership with Vudu. Boxee is seeking ways to catch up with its own ideals, and Vudu has seen a significant decline in its subscribers.  Its only option is to partner and regrow as a distributed channel.
