Amazon Lowers Web Services Prices, Staying More than Competitive
In order to attract and retain customers, Amazon.com has been cutting prices of its web services including its Simple Storage Service (S3) for as low as $0.01 per 1000 requests for PUT, COPY, POST or LIST requests, and per 10,000 requests for GET and all other requests.
S3 is Amazon.com’s popular data storage service where clients can store video, PDFs, audio, backups of your computer, etc. Instead of burning through the bandwidth allotment of a site, Amazon S3 offers a sought-after alternative for all online media usage called by a specified site. Although S3 is not yet so user-friendly, it is guaranteed to be backed by the Amazon S3 Service Level Agreement and is designed to offer “99.999999999% durability and 99.99% availability of objects” over a given year.
Furthermore, S3 is seen to sustain the concurrent loss of data in two facilities with S3 Fox Organizer aiding in the reliability of the service by promptly answering issues on your hardware by asking you on your AWS Access Identifiers, which includes your Access Key ID and Secret Access Key.
More details on the Amazon.com S3 can be found at this site.
Amazon’s been quick to compete with changing host and web service needs, including a free tier offering within the past few weeks. But a number of competitors are making similar modifications to their suite of solutions as well. The changes are indicative of the cloud battles currently taking place amongst the elite industry giants
