Juniper Networks Races Ahead with Core Router T4000

Juniper Networks has presented another breakthrough core router technology in the market via Juniper Networks T4000 Core Router, powered by the Junos operating system.

The California-based company that designs and sells high-performance Internet protocol network products and services, has launched the fastest core routing platform, that will be able to support IT business models for various industries in the coming decade. Described as a next-generation core router, T4000 is expected to be another favorite member of Juniper Networks T-Series. T4000 operates at 240 Gbps/slot and one of the densest IP/MPLS routers. It will provide ravenous scalability and flexibility to meet the current rapidly growing bandwidth demand.

The T Series (T320, T640, T1600, TX Matrix, and TX Matrix Plus) platform, is among the most extensively installed and trusted core routing platform in the sphere today. T4000 and the rest in the series were built to support multiple telecommunications interfaces of the maximum speed in use in the core Internet. Secondary function includes forwarding IP packets at full speed on all of the service providers’ interfaces.

Even leaders from multinational companies and big players within the information technology have expressed their excitement and high hopes with T4000. From a released statement, Kevin McElearney, vice president of network engineering at Comcast says:

“At Comcast, we are committed to delivering more and more compelling entertainment and communications experiences to our customers. Juniper has been an important technology partner in helping us grow and evolve our network to meet increasing customer demands, and the capabilities of Juniper’s T4000 look promising in helping us expand even further.”

“The insatiable demand for bandwidth driven by video communications continues to place increased pressure on service providers’ business models. Juniper’s continuous innovation in silicon technology has propelled the company ahead of the competition in service capacity per footprint in the core router market. As a result, next-generation core routing platforms, such as the T Series, deliver the performance service providers need to scale and adapt their networks in order to provide new services and enhance performance, while improving network economics and reducing carbon footprint,” said Andre Viera, Program Manager and Telecom Infrastructure Analyst of IDC.

The T4000 will sustain a range of interfaces and will be optimized to carry out the benefits of 10/40/100GbE. On top of supporting all existing T640 and T1600 interfaces, the new interface cards will include 12x10GE, 1x100GE with CFP and 2x40GE with CFP.  This is the latest in a string of product releases for Juniper Networks, with mobile security tools being among this year’s noteworthy.  Juniper Networks is coming off a 52-week high for its shares, closing out the year with a bang.
