After CEO’s Transfer, VP of Product Resigns from Twitter

Jason Goldman, Twitter’s Vice President for Product has recently announced his resignation from the celebrated social network. Goldman disclosed this information following a product discussion and an on-stage interview at the Le Web 10 Conference.

This is not the first time that Twitter experienced an executive shake-up. CEO Evan Williams recently passed on his crown to the COO, Dick Costolo. However, unlike Williams, Goldman is  leaving the company. Williams? Well, he just wants to focus himself on Twitter’s products. It is an interesting, but not totally surprising move by Williams as he already made some statements prior to his resignation from the top post about the several pitfalls that blew some of Twitters monetization strategies.

When asked what would be the next step for him, Jason Goldman answers, “Yeah I date back to the Odeo days. But I wanted to call it ‘fleeding’, which was a terrible idea. I started in product management, but I had several different roles. I’ve just announced to the entire company last Friday that I’ll be leaving Twitter at the end of the month.

“We’ve grown a lot over the past few years, but it’s a good time for me to step down, although I’ll still be involved as an advisor for a while. I’m not leaving to start something new, and I’m not going to join Facebook or Google. I’m not going to say I need to spend more time with my family – as it only consists of my girlfriend and two cats – but I just need a bit of a break.”

You may be thinking as to why Goldman departed from the organization in a time when Twitter’s products are still booming.  The microblog announced several new media partners, aiming at making its site richer in context and usability. Goldman previously worked for Google and admitted during the same interview that he also committed some mistakes in designing products like the UI by making this cool stuff too complicated.
