Apple Adding Playlists Sharing Feature to iTunes Ping
Apple has again updated its music-centric social network, Ping, as the company released yet another feature over the weekend. The new ‘Publish Playlist’ button in the iTunes sidebar enables users to share their playlists with their Ping friends, along with some other options.
“You can give your published playlist a unique name and description, then drag and drop songs to put them in optimum listening order…While editing your playlist for publishing, you can add more songs from the iTunes Store even if you don’t own them.”
iTunes automatically verifies if every playlist song out of a user’s 100-song limited playlist is available on the Tunes Store, and in case it isn’t, the system automatically removes the song during the preparation process. Additionally, some of the new options the update carries also include collaboration, as a user can allow his Ping friends to add their own songs to the playlist(s) in question on top of rating and reviewing it.
In other Ping news, we also covered here how Apple integrated Twitter with the social network, as users can now automatically share their iTunes song previews and purchases on Twitter. Apple also gave Facebook integration a try, though it dropped Ping support for Facebook due to an alleged problem with Facebook and somewhat curiously, not the other way around.
