iPad and Android Business Tablet Apps: Take It to the Cloud

Tablets have already started to bite into PC sales, and the technology is storming through the workplace. While tablets haven’t maximized their workspace potential just yet, there are quite a few noteworthy tablet business apps, and here are the best of the week:

Air Sharing HD for iPad

The app, which got quite a few rewards from PCMag, Apple and others allows users to mount their iPad as a wireless drive, and then view, share and print files including PDFs and Excel spreadsheets, source code, HTML, iWork docs, multimedia and so on. The remote connection feauture supports Mac OS X as well as Windows and Linux, and mountable remote file servers include Dropbox and Box.net clouds as well as half a dozen others.

Bento for iPad

Bento is FileMaker Pro’s database app which offers 25 customizable templates. These can be used to organize contacts, customers, digital media, files, notes and about 20 more object items. The app also lets users to take recording, and provides a pretty handy streamlined interface which got it a few positive reviews.

VMware View for iPad

The newly launched VMware View lets users (with a focus on enterprise users) access virtual Windows desktops, networks and servers. The app by the virtualization giant represents one more push towards the tablet’s integration into enterprise operations, but before that happens, users can at least broaden the applications spectrum they can access for their iPad.

Evernote for Android

Evernote for Android tablets brings the popular note taking app to a wider screen. The app lets you take notes throughout a number of platform and sync them throughout devices, including the iPad, BB, Palm and Windows Mobile-powered handsets.

Spreadsheet for Android

Spreadsheet for Android tablets is the Android version of Office2 HD for the iPad, which lets you create and view Office docs. The app features over 100 functions searching, sorting, cell merging, copy/paste, cell types and formatting; Gmail support and more.
