SNW Conference Kicks Off Today: What the Inside of a Cloud Looks Like

SNW, the largest storage and IT infrastructure conference of its kind, hosted by Computerworld, will be held in the Santa Clara Convention Center, Santa Clara through April 4-7.

The event will feature 15 topical tracks including: storage management, cloud computing, cloud storage, data protection, backup and achieving as well as solid state storage, energy efficiency, data management, data security, the Converged Network, virtualization, Data Center, virtual desktop infrastructure, professional development and deduplication.

SNW Spring will encompass 4 days, covering no less than 120 educational sessions, 10 hands-on labs, 5 best practice awards and 3 days of SNIA certification workshops – the company co-owning the event alongside Computerworld.

SNW will also feature 12 executive presentations and keynotes, with speakers including Apple co-founder and Fusion-io chief scientist Steve Wozniak, IBM Storage Systems Development VP Dr. Krishna Nathan, HP StorageWorks SVP and GM David Scott as well as others. The event will also bring together 6 executive practitioners including William Cross, Seminole Electric CIO William Cross, Flight Options CIO David Davies, Citigroup SVP Atul image Jain, VCU Health System CTO Gregory Johnson, AlphaStaff VP of IT Opretions Jack Rahner and Omer Siddiqui, CIO of DC Water.

SNW Spring 2011will focus on all the hottest trends in the industry right now – from data and security to the cloud. The event is targeting IT and business continuity planning professionals, and features a huge storage and infrastructure exposition in addition to hundreds of sessions, tutorials, workshops and hands-on labs.

Last year’s SWN Spring event also had quite a bit of highlights, and also focused on several of this year’s topics including, for once, green storage. Sponsors and underwriters of the event included, yet again, some of the biggest names in the industry such as EMC, Oracle, IBM, VMware, Intel and more than a dozen others.  We’ll be covering SNW this year, with in-depth interviews from the floor, so stay tuned to SiliconAngle for continuous coverage and ongoing discussions around the cloud infrastructure.  Some companies we’ve recently looked at that are playing a big role in SNW’s topics of discussion include Cisco, with its new take on FCoE.  See here for an overview from Wikibon Senior Analyst Stu Miniman.
