HP Takes Milestone Leap with HANA, Financial Offering
Hewlett-Packard made a very significant announcement about two developments: it has launched a brand new financing offering, and its HP ProLiant DL980 G7 and HP ProLiant DL580 G7 systems are now among the first of its servers to be certified for running SAP HANA.
SAP HANA on HP Converged Infrastructure, the two companies’ new big data analytics offering targeting the financial industry, represents a very significant milestone for the duo. This can be said both in terms of their strengthening partnership as well as separate market positions, with the former one also including the second part of the announcement:
“In addition, HP ProLiant DL980 G7 and HP ProLiant DL580 G7 systems are among the first HP platforms certified by SAP for running SAP HANA, giving assurance to organizations that they can achieve increased flexibility, rapid provisioning and a highly reliable architecture with their HP and SAP solution.”
The HP ProLiant DL980 G7 configuration is certified for databases ranging anywhere from 2.5 (TB) and 5 TB, while the e HP ProLiant DL580 G7 is built for databases up to 2.5 TB. In a press release published on HP’s website, the companies said they’re also jointly developing a configuration designed for databases over 5 terabytes.
The two companies will be demonstrating at the SAPphire 2011 conference – which we here at SiliconANGLE are covering live. The gathering of course also spurred a host of other news to date, including yet another HANA development.
In an agreement with SAP, electronics giant Fujitsu will resell the SAP In-Memory Appliance, HANA, to its customers. This is yet another major push for the German competitor, and comes right along Tony Pagliarul’s, Vice President of IT at EMC, sits down at theCube. He discussed his take on virtualization, and what means for the private cloud.
