QLogic Tops Q1 Fibre Channel Market, Flashes Promising Financial Gains

Networking and technology innovator QLogic is clearly looking to dominate the the fibre channel market, having expanding its margin from the nearest competitor. The report was released by two major research companies, namely Dell’Oro Group and Crehan Research, that gives QLogic 55% share of the market and an 18-point advantage over rivals. Furthermore, the company has posted a very promising fourth quarter financial performance and revenue of $152.3 million—beating early predictions of $151 million. This outstanding output was brought about by investments in emerging technologies and leadership in both traditional and expansion markets.

Vice President of Marketing, Host Solutions Group at QLogic, Amit Vashi, explains how the company was able to achieve solid Q1 figures: “These latest market share figures are validation that QLogic continues to gain momentum in the Fibre Channel adapter market by continuing to make the right technology and engineering investments and executing well with our growing customer base.

“Enterprise customers worldwide continue to depend on Fibre Channel networks to run their high performance storage applications. This large, loyal base of customers has come to rely on QLogic as the trusted leader in Fibre Channel adapters and with 16Gb Fibre Channel products on the horizon Fibre Channel continues to meet the performance demands of insatiable storage applications that require reliable and proven high-performance storage bandwidth.”

QLogic has seen several changes over the last two quarters. In April, they appointed Jean Hu as their new Chief Financial Officer (CFO) amidst cloud executive shake-ups. They also named Rob Crawford as the new SVP for Worldwide Sales first week of May. The same month, the company continues with its Fiber streak and teamed up with Huawei Symantec for network quality solutions. Just today, QLogic’s 8200 Series 10GbE converged network adapters will now be offered within the Dell PowerEdge blade servers portfolio. With QLogic VMflex as the foundation, this team up will drive nextgen server I/O virtualization with switch-agnostic NIC partitioning.

With rough waves challenging cloud, QLogic remains a contendor in its top position, with high-rated performance in earnings and market share as proofs. Perhaps, the organization’s secret weapon lies on its incredible focus data infrastructure.
