Kik Messenger Reaches a Real-Time Milestone. Watch Out Twitter!
I’m a huge fan of services that focus on bringing a real-time experience to it’s users. Kik is a messaging application for iPhone and Android which provides an alternative to texting. The company reported an average of 3 million messages per day jumping to 4 million in just a couple months.
Kik Messenger has 4 million users sending over 4 million messages per day! You guys are messaging at phenomenal rates and the Kik community continues to grow quickly. In fact, in the month of April there were 3 million messages sent on an average day, and now, just a few short months later, we’re up to 4 million per day. That’s almost 3,000 messages per minute, delivered quickly and reliably.
We’re proud that we’ve become such a big part of your mobile lives and we promise to continue to provide a great messaging app for you to use millions of times per day.
From the Kik Blog
Kik is my favorite application to use for messaging. The interface is much more polished than other applications. Other applications may have distinctive features, but the mission is keeping things real-time. Kik also has a very strong community.
As a beta tester, I receive many pings regarding creative input and excitement around the product. Text messaging feels like a one-way conversation, compared to an application that builds itself through a community.
