Looks like desktop virtualization is ready to rule. Completely letting physical desktops go will not happen anytime soon. But, organizations’ interest in desktop virtualization is growing at an incredible rate. Simply put, people would not want to carry two or more devices, checking each, one at a time. Having access to multiple virtual machines in a single device is a potent way to converge your personal and professional life without having to jump from one device to another.

This steamy desktop solution is becoming a frontier in the VMware camp. Just yesterday, VMware announced the expansion of its Ready Desktop Solutions program.  The VMware Ready Program will be extending its cloud infrastructure and virtualization solutions via VMware View. This is one of the company’s next step towards beefing up their cloud infrastructure.

Vice President and General Manager of End-User Computing at VMware, Chris Young provided insights on how the company has become a good partner for enterprises that are already moving towards desktop virtualization. “VMware has helped thousands of enterprises and federal agencies improve security, lower operating costs, and simplify desktop administration and management by establishing a modern, end-user computing architecture,” he notes.

“VMware Ready Desktop Solutions can provide customers added value beyond the capability of any single vendor; customers can get an end-to-end, VMware-validated virtual desktop environment that can speed time to deployment and ultimately lead to a faster return on investment.”

VMware is relentless in finding ways to get desktop virtualization moving, and is now pre-validating VDI deployments. Other businesses are also keen in stepping up their own array of virtual solutions. Intel parades their “intelligent desktop virtualization,” which features local execution within a centralized management. MicroTech’s Tony Jimenez sat down with Stu Miniman at theCube during the EMC World 2011 to discuss his company’s take on this hot topic. Desktop virtualization is an important piece within the enterprise space. Remarkably, it is making the management of offices more competent and centralized with the use of fewer machines. With the promise of cost efficiency, it is not surprising to witness the mainstream adaptation of desktop virtualization at this point in the virtualization journey.
