HTC Appeals to Bootloaders with Latest Update News

In August of this year, HTC’s new bootloader unlocking software update will be featured with the latest HTC mobile devices. A few months back, HTC reconsidered its policy on unlocked phones but details about it were not disclosed. It was only today that HTC talked about the details of the said changes, and the time frame for each.

The first to receive the latest software will be the HTC Sensation, which will start in August.  No specific dates were given for HTC Sensation 4G users and Sprint’s HTC Evo 3D, though they too will be able to unlock their devices soon enough.

Phone unlocking will give advanced users more custom options when it comes to their handsets. This means that users who are interested with this kind of update can get root access to their devices and allow them to customize it according to their preferences.

HTC shared the details on the company’s Facebook page:

“We’re thrilled to announce today that software updates to support bootloader unlocking will begin rolling out in August for the global HTC Sensation, followed by the HTC Sensation 4G on T-Mobile USA and the HTC EVO 3D on Sprint. We’re in the testing phase for the unlocking capability now, and we expect it to be fully operational by early September for devices that have received the software updates. We’ll continue rolling out the unlocking capability over time to other devices as part of maintenance releases and new shipments.”

HTC also announced the release of the Android 2.3 Gingerbread update for its Desire handset. The said update will be rolling out by the end of this month. Also announced on  their Facebook page, HTC says:

“Hi everyone. As some of you have seen already, we have more news about our build of Gingerbread for Desire. Our testing has gone well so we will begin rolling out the update by the end of July. Thank you again for your support.”

Though the Desire had a hard time surviving in the market, HTC stuck with it and will finally release the software update for the device. It then gave a sigh of relief for its users who patiently waited for a newer version of the phone’s operating system.

Being one of the world’s top five handset makers, HTC has really done a great job in the market. With doubling of its net profit in just the second quarter, Taiwan’s smartphone maker had earned $608.44 million, that is, with the help of the Android OS.

HTC also continues to improve its devices with the latest adaption of S3 Graphics for their handsets. The phone maker acquired S3 graphics last week, primarily for its technology which gives an image of life-like appearance with its high definition quality.
