Ai-One Acquires Artificial Intelligence Services Startup, Auto-Semantics
Ai-one, which provides technologies to build artificial intelligence into software programs, has acquired a local artificial intelligence services company, Auto-Semantics.
Auto-Semantics provides solutions for big data and marketing problems like investor behavior and modeling consumer solution to business. Its computational semantics solution allows artificial intelligence machines to understand human language. Founded a year back by Olin Hyde, the company was building mobile GroupOn applications to deliver coupon to customer. But Hyde said Auto-Semantics was not able to appeal enough investors to fund their projects.
“Not getting funding was a blessing; it forced me to pivot from building speculative products into providing professional services. We solved corporate IT problems using machine learning technologies. That led me to Ai-one – they had the only SDK to build semantic applications,” said Hyde.
The acquisition of Auto-Semantics is the latest to be done by Ai-one to strengthen the emerging market for machine learning technologies. Last year, Ai-one acquired Berlin-based PPM Data Management GmbH. This year the two companies entered into a joint venture to provide advanced pattern recognition technology in commercial services. The technology, called ai-ibiomics gmbh, uses genetic sequencing to provide personalized medicine and other Forensity AG, a trades shoeprint recognition program to law firms and crime laboratories.
Another biologically inspired intelligence solution, Topic-Mapper SDK for text tool, provides developer to create intelligent applications to carry better artificial intelligence, data mining and sentiment analysis discovery. It reads and recognizes unstructured data without any human intervention.
Couchbase, a NoSQL database company, also deals with unstructured data. Couchbase, in partnership with SQLite, last week reveals UnQL (pronounced “uncle”), which stands for Unstructured Query Language. The language offers SQL like syntax to enable the selection and manipulation of complex document structures.
There have been a lot of acquisitions and mergers taking place in Big Data space. Dell today announced the partnership with Cloudera to deliver end-to-end, purpose-built Hadoop cluster solution. The new product, called the Dell|Cloudera Hadoop Solution, will provide clustered computing with Cloudera’s Distribution of Apache Hadoop, Dell’s PowerEdge C2100 servers, PowerConnect switches and Crowbar software. Apache Hadoop has been widely used by enterprises for big data management these days.
Informatica also introduced the Informatica Fast Clone this week, the data replication solution, to support big data transaction and operational data needs. The solution is designed to help customers monetize their social media and transactional history data.
