In-House SaaS, Security and Other Software Questions Answered

Wikibon member and Software-as-a-Service expert Derek Singleton, who provides detailed information on SaaS and in-house business software on Software Advice Web site, has posted an article providing answers to the top three questions that businesses ask about SaaS on Wikibon, found here.

He gives a brief discussion of some of the primary rules-of-thumb for manufacturers trying to determine whether they should consider SaaS or stay with their in-house system from a business functionality (not financial) point-of-view. He also discusses common customization opportunities provided by SaaS services.

Finally he tackles the universal question of data security in the cloud and notes that online banking and payroll services are commonly used by SMBs, and business owners, today. Why, he asks, are business leaders comfortable putting their company (and often personal) finances on on-line services but wary of trusting SaaS services with their company business data?

He also provides a link to a longer article, providing his answers to the 10 most frequently asked business questions about SaaS, on the Software Advice site.
