Rovio Comes to Roost with Medio Systems to Enhance User Experience

Can you name someone who has not played Rovio’s Angry Birds?  Well, seems like everyone is getting hooked with this hit game.  If you haven’t tried it yet, now is the right time to catch these birds before they fly away.

Rovio, the game developer of this famous Angry Birds, has just teamed up with Medio Systems.  The collaboration between game developer and mobile predictive analyst aims not just to increase the number of users but to boost user engagement across the consumer platforms, which include Apple’s iPhone iOS, Google’s Android Mobile Operating System, and the Chrome web browser.

So how exactly can a mobile predictive analyst help Rovio and contribute to their goal?  Medio’s proven expertise with data will help Rovio by means of tapping location-aware connected devices, providing user profiles and producing useful information to improve customer satisfaction by getting players engaged.  In other words, the partnership shall target increased fan satisfaction to provide a significant advantage in the growing area of entertainment–and specifically the games category.  With a current total time played-statistics of about 1.4 billion minutes in just one week and the niche is still growing exponentially, obtaining this informative data would certainly be a big step in achieving their goal.

“The success of Rovio is built on delighting our fans and a commitment to innovation,” said Rovio CEO Mikael Hed. “We are pleased to partner with Medio to help further accomplish these goals. Medio has what it takes to help delight our fans.”

When asked about the partnership, Medio CEO Robert Lilleness added, “Medio’s cloud-based, predictive analytics platform was built for Big Data, location-aware  services, and connected devices,” he said. “Our platform will provide Rovio the tools to make real-time product changes that optimize game play, fan satisfaction and revenue. In this fast-evolving market, the players that get Big Data will win, and those that don’t will disappear.”

Fan engagement and data analytics goes a long way in the industry

In addition, the partnership comes with benefits for both companies. For Rovio, it’s the achievement of “fan engagement”.  As for Medio, with $46 million in funding to date and with their analytics platform monitoring more than 2.5 thousand daily unique users,  the addition of Rovio shall also mean an increase in both funding and users.

End of July this year, as Angry Birds continued to gain popularity, Rovio has been sued by US based firm Lodsys for patent violation. Prior to that issue, the game developer has expanded its reach through the acquisition of Finland-based animation studio Kombo for a better gaming experience. With its continuous expansion, Rovio will surely maintain its top spot in the gaming industry.  As a matter of fact, Angry Birds has reclaimed its spot as the top selling iPhone game.  Angry Birds can also be played in other mobile devices as well as Social Networks.

Aside from developing games, Rovio has also ventured and is doing great in selling plush toys and clothing.  In addition to its profit, the firm is also planning to expand into baby products and print publishing, with a cookbook already in a work-in-progress.
