European end-point cybersecurity provider BullGuard turns to security firm Commtouch in a partnership designed to integrate the latter technology with BullGuard’s offerings. Specifically, Commtouch’s Anti-Spam and GlobalViewURL Filtering products will be included in BullGuard’s Internet Security 12, the latest version of its security suite that is set to hit the market this month.
“After testing multiple solutions, we selected Commtouch’s Anti-Spam and GlobalView URL filtering to replace commercial technologies we had been using because Commtouch’s cloud approach aligns with our rapidly growing user base,” said Søren Ravn, BullGuard CEO.”
Commtouch designed the aforementioned solutions as well as several others exactly for this purpose. They’re language-agnostic, which means that they can be integrated with a very broad spectrum of applications – whether they’re in the cloud or not.
Security is one of the biggest issues service providers and companies need to tackle in the cloud today. And thanks to that, there is a very big market for security offerings. Hewlett-Packard, a hardware giant aspiring to reach significant standing in the software world, is one of the providers that’s tapping this bubbling security market.
Yesterday HP launched ArcSight Express 3.0, the new Fortify Software Security Center product which tests applications for potential security flaws and Tipping Point Web Application Digital Vaccine, a program that scans network traffic to detect suspicious activities.
Security in the cloud has become a particularly heated topic this year, in light of a wave of high profile cyberattacks that targeted everyone, from end users to some of the most important defense contractors. The latest incident in this string is the DigiNotar hack.
DigiNotar is a company that issues security certificates for websites, and has been breached as a result of a series of errors; our own Kit Dotson discusses the topic in depth here. The breach is noteworthy as DigiNotar is one of the biggest players in this space, and the attack didn’t come without consequences. It was discovered that traffic from Iranian users accessing sites like Google was intercepted throughout a period of two months.
