Nirvanix Investor Lands Farah Giga, Grows Hardware Interest

IT VC firm Valhalla Ventures announced that it hired of Farah Giga, previously a strategy and business development manager at Hewlett-Packard.  She will serve as a principal, focusing on enterprise hardware investments.  At 28 Giga has quite a resume, which is what landed her the new job with the venture capital firm in the first place.  She led the $2.4 billion acquisition of 3PAR for HP, the storage company whose technology is now one of the foundations of the tech giant’s storage portfolio.

“We are very happy about adding Farah to the Valhalla team,” said Charles Curran, Valhalla general partner.  “In addition to her acumen, technical depth, and energy, her experience working for large acquirers in the storage industry will be an indispensable asset to Valhalla going forward.”

Giga has been working in the enterprise tech industry for 9 years now, and served various roles including software development, technical marketing, solutions architecture and more when she was with Hitachi, her employer prior to HP and Vallhalla.  She holds a Masters in Management Science and Engineering, and a Masters in Communication from Stanford University, as well as a CS Bachelors degree with Honors from the same institution.

Giga said she will be looking into cloud storage and new disruptors in this industry, such as SSDs and flash in particular, which ties in with the fact Valhalla Ventures has been investing in this space for some time.  There’s Nirvanix for one, a storage startup that has been getting a lot of attention recently, and has made strides in gaining enterprise clients for its cloud strategies.

Nirvanix appointed Paul Froutan as its new CTO, who was head of global data center infrastructure for Google prior to the hire, and VP of product development at Rackspace Hosting before that.
