Bookmark iPad Websites with Springpad Update

Springpad, the free app that helps you remember stuff from your computer or mobile device, released a new iOS update introducing a couple of exciting new features that make it easier to save anything you want to remember, right when you come across it.  The newly-optimized clipper for iOS lets you save to Springpad as you surf the web, and the new Quick Add button for your device’s home screen allows you to jump right to your account.

The Springpad Clipper features a new and faster interface without making things complicated.  The updated clipper allows one to save to Springpad with just a few clicks and it’s a huge step for bookmarking services, as far as the iPad Safari browser goes, pulling your web content out of isolation and making it more shareable with the apps on your tablet.  New features include:

  • “Pop-out” the clipper to open it in a new window, allowing you copy content from the page you’re clipping into the thing you’re saving
  • When you define the page as a product or movie, we’ll automatically save the related information without you doing any additional work

The Springpad Clipper still has your favorite features intact such as:

The 2.5 version is resized to fit perfectly in your iOS device’s screen and it includes instructions on how to install the clipper right in the app’s settings’ screen.  Also this update makes the Springpad Clipper optimized for use on the Safari browser on your iOS device, so when you come across something while browsing the web with your iPhone or iPad you can save it to Springpad with just a few taps.

The new mobile-optimized clipper allows you to “clip” any page to Springpad by pulling up the clipper from your browser’s bookmarks. This is an important area of integration for iOS devices in particular, which have a less centralized way to interact across applications and services.

Springpad is constantly updating their app to make it more useful for users.  Last July, they released an update to make the app more convenient to use through push notifications, and just last month Springpad introduced another major update, Friends Stuff, which aggregates aspects of the social web on their site to make it easier to navigate and discover content from your friends.
