QLogic Invests in Partner Ecosystem, Margins

Networking solutions maker QLogic is on a steady growth track, and one way the company is maintaining this momentum is by expanding its partner ecosystem.  SAN encryption provider Bloombase Technologies is the latest name on that list, now that it announced its Spitfire Encryption Security Server passed the QLogic Storage Networking Interoperability testing.

“The comprehensive QLogic NETtrack Alliance program allowed us to quickly and easily confirm that our Spitfire Encryption Security Server is completely interoperable with QLogic’s industry-leading Fibre Channel portfolio,” says CEO Sean Xiang.  “The Bloombase Spitfire Encryption Security Server is capable of meeting various stringent information security regulatory standards easily and cost-effectively.”

Bloombase claims that its software encryption is more affordable and secure than legacy hardware alternatives.

This latest addition to QLogic’s partnerbase follows a number of pushes the firm made over the past two weeks.  The company appointed Chris Humphrey as its new VP of marketing last week, who comes from Honeywell Life Safety and brings 16 years of experience in corporate marketing.  News of the hire came shortly after QLogic expanded its Adaptive Convergence  and FlexSuit lines by adding new switches with support for 16Gb converged fibre channel and 10Gb Ethernet protocols.  One of the new products is the FlexSuit adapter, which can be configured for either Ethernet or fibre channel, and is designed for virtualized environments.

QLogic may also be considering branching out to a new area and start developing PCIe flash cards, according to a conversation that took place between CEO Simon Biddiscomb and Stifel Nicolaus analyst Aaron Rakers.

The networking firm has been making some aggressive moves to help strengthen its strategy and grow market share, an approach that has been paying off. According to FFN Online, QLogic accounts for the highest profits.
