ScaleXtreme Updates DB Automation Tool

ScaleXtreme added some UI enhancements to both versions of its cloud-based deployment management platform: the free ScaleXtreme Xpress and the full ScaleXtreme Expert subscription service. The automation solution was revealed in August last year, a launch that we covered at the time.

“The first major change is a radically streamlined path to create new servers or begin controlling existing machines. The new user interface will dramatically accelerate your ability to take control of your servers. “ScaleXtreme may now be the fastest way to start managing your physical, virtual and cloud servers,” says ScaleXtreme CTO Balaji Srinivasa.”

The new user interface offers extra agility to users via the simplified controls. Usability received a big boost in the form of better browsing, and mainly thanks to a single centralized dashboard for all the deployments maintained across a number of supported providers.

A third update rolled out to users is the Dynamic Server Assembly, a few months-old feature in Xpress and Expert that allows users to maintain and provision a multi-vendor public cloud environment. It now supports version control templates, making it easier for sysadmins to do their jobs.

This year ScaleXtreme has set its eyes on further strengthening its offerings, extending its focus from last year, evident by its products launched, and also taking the time to expand its support roster. Open-source technologies have been a point of interest as well. The company announced support for deployments powered by the OpenStack cloud platform, and later added the now Citrix-operated CloudStacks to the list.

ScaleXtreme is looking to capitalize on the shift to the cloud by introducing this trend to the system management space. The company’s cloud-powered solutions will likely become increasingly attractive as elements such as mobility convergence within the enterprise, or at least that’s what CEO Nand Mulchandani believes.
