Appcelerator Hires Gartner Analyst to Boost Mobile Angle

Mobile development platform provider Appcelerator has hired Michael King to fulfill a couple of significant responsibilities in the company, both of which will serve the purpose of boosting Appcelerator’s position in the mobile universe.

King spent the last decade or so working for research firm Gartner, where he was one of the chief contributors to its mobile market reports. He authored a sizable number of Magic Quadrants reports, all focused on different trends in the mobile industry. Among the areas he covered during his tenure were mobile consumer application platforms, mobile enterprise application platforms (MEAP),  WLAN and wireless carries in the U.S.

At Appcelerator, King will work as a consultant to the over 1,000 enterprises that leverage the platform. This will increase the overall level of service given to select customers, and will also contribute some good PR to the PaaS provider’s overall image. In addition, he will also participate in Appcelerator’s internal product development.

“The majority of enterprises are still in the early days of developing a complete mobile strategy, which leverages cloud services and device capabilities to deliver employees and customers a rich cross-platform app experience,” said Michael King. “As someone who has spent the past 17 years specializing in mobile enterprise strategy, I am thrilled to bring this expertise to Appcelerator to help our clients build an end-to-end mobile strategy that transforms their customer relationships and empowers their mobile workforce.”

Appcelerator has been hiring tech industry veterans with experience that fits in with its line of work for a few weeks running.  Previously it hired two former Adobe executives, as well as another to help launch and expand its newly opened London offices – the delivery of a promise to expand to Europe made following a recent funding round.
