The Best of Whitney Houston – Videos, Tweets and More! #RIPWhitney

Whitney Houston, the woman with a voice that can send shivers down your spine, passed away Saturday night, the day before the 54th Grammy Awards where she was supposed to perform.  And guess how people found out about her death–through Twitter of course! Because of Twitter, news as it happens, gets reported by people from all walks of life.

Houston’s death stunned everyone, some people thought it was another one of those stupid hoaxes that people spread just because someone got bored (death rumors for Houston have been spreading across Twitter for several years running).  But this time it was real– t is real.  And since Twitter was the vessel that brought the news, it was also the vessel where people expressed their thoughts and feelings about her untimely death.

But the most common tweet regarding the diva’s death involves the song “I will always love you” from the movie “The Bodyguard.”  Though some people find that movie cheesy, it was a game changer for Houston, people started to see her not only as a great singer but also as an actress.

Even with her tragic death, some people just can’t help but throw cheap shots like “Houston and Amy Winehouse are now sharing drugs wherever they may be.”  And these people don’t even feel a bit of remorse when reprimanded, stating that they don’t know her personally so it’s okay to make fun of her.  That’s just wrong.

Houston has an upcoming movie, Sparkle, due in August, but we might see early release because of her death.  The movie is a remake of the 1976 Irene Cara film about three talented young musicians who struggle with addiction.  Houston starred in the movie as well as its executive producer, since she own the rights to the film when she bought it nearly a decade ago.  I just find it ironic that her last film was about something that greatly affected her own career.

On a lighter note, people have taken their time to create tributes to the fallen diva like funny montages such as Whitney Houston Funny Moments, where Houston was seen doing silly stuff like freaking out a bit because there was a butterfly on stage, talking about diarrhea on TV, getting her feet kissed for winning an award, and a lot more.  The Daily  Beast features Houston at the prime of her career while the Huffington Post shares Houston’s charitable side.  Houston’s last performance with Kelly Price immediately went viral after the announcement of her death, it’s like people wanted to see if there could’ve have been any signs about her death, while some just wanted to see her perform one last time.

We at SiliconANGLE send our condolences to Houston’s family, friends and fans. Houston was a great singer with such a powerful voice that inspired many of our singers today.  Her death is such a loss, but her life, though tainted, will be an inspiration and lesson for everyone.  #RIPWhitney.
