Tablet Business Apps for MWC 2012: NFC for iPad and Android

The 2012 Mobile World Congress in Barcelona will kick off Monday, and we’ll be covering it extensively.  Expect several launches by the biggest brands in the mobile industry, as well as by smaller players trying to make the most out of the extra publicity, and a big portion of those launches will be new apps. This is why this week’s roundup has a small section dedicated to MWC.

Upcoming apps – near-field communications is all the rage

Our very own Mellisa Tolentino wrote up a very extensive piece on what exactly it is we’ll be seeing at MWC this year. One trend we expect a great deal from apps and their use of NFC: Touchanote and Evernote have joined forces for an NFC offering, and several new payment applications will be introduced this week among the other different implementations of this technology we’ll be hearing about.

iPad

Twilio Client for iPad

Twilio is the first item on our list. The VoIP app maker rolled out its first iOS API, which developers will be able to leverage as the core for new, enterprise-grade telecommunications apps on the iPad.

Conference Pad

CP lets users manage presentations across multiple devices and encompasses a broad set of features for simultaneously running a presentation for a room of attendees.  It gives people an interactive way to experience your presentation, using Bluetooth and WiFi networks.

Android

eVoice

eVoice launched on Android this week. It’s a business-oriented VoIP app that emphasizes efficiency, both in terms of costs and actual functionality, and quality at the same time. The latter is a priority for the developer, differentiating its app itself from alternatives with cross-platform support and an expansive feature set.

Onebox

Onebox is the smartphone era’s answering machine, encompassing email, fax and voicemail on-the-go.  It centralizes and automates several business functions to let you do more with your resources–and time.
