Fund a Friend’s Trip with myTab on Facebook

Though they’re still waiting for the approval of gifting Paypal features, social travel gift card myTab announced that they’ve already gone live with their Facebook app. They did some minor tweaks in the meantime as part of the updates of phase 1. This includes the following:

• Keep Tabs on Friends: Check in all your current trips (to/from dates, destination & purpose i.e. honeymoon, birthday, reunion, getaway etc). No more missing Facebook status updates of a friend who’s maybe in the same destination as you and no more frustratingly long commenting threads about missed opportunities to meet up.

• Create Travel Wishes: Create your wish trips so you and your friends can view each other’s dream trip plans. Then sign into www.mytab.co where friends can then gift each other towards trips, for any occasion.

MyTabs launched last year to offer simple group travel gifting, giving friends and family an easy way to fund travel expenditures for each other. myTab brings in social networking elements to its online travel gift service, and their recently unveiled Facebook app will allow users to create travel gift ideas and send gifts directly through their existing network. Social travel is an industry that’s really starting to define itself, thanks to deeper integration capabilities with networks, payments and more.

“Think of myTab as your holiday layaway travel savings fund that friends & family can gift towards. With myTab, you can gift travel cash, save travel cash, plan your trips and simply redeem the funds towards flights or flights+hotels within our website. We’re the only start up that focuses on the price frustration of searching best deals for weeks, and then disappointed when a better deal arrives after you’ve booked a trip. With funds gifted and/or saved in your account, the experience on myTab is so much faster and easier, since you’re travel cash-rich. And through crowd sourcing on our gift card platform, we get better negotiated deals for you.”

Social travel is certainly coming into its own.  KLM airlines is taking full advantage of growing digital connections, recently adding the option to connect with other flight members through Facebook and Twitter.   The new feature, called Meet & Greet, is the latest in a string of socially driven updates KLM’s pushed through in recent months.
