A Multilingual Facebook Demands New Tools for Content Marketing

Social media’s become a truly global affair, and in today’s era the international language of digital culture is the true globalization.  To that end, Offerpop, the promotional marketing platform for Facebook and Twitter, launched full translation features for its app on both the social platforms. This will allow advertisers to market their campaign on Facebook with local languages, helping this globalization along.

The full translation feature is integrated with Offerpop’s suite of Facebook apps, including Sign Up, Photo Contest, Referral and Quiz.

The app now offers 17 different languages to translate all user interface elements. Users also have the option to download translation file to create custom translations in any language.

“Offerpop has had a strong presence in global markets for quite some time now,” said Mark Cooper, co-founder and CMO at Offerpop. “With this release, we’re providing our international customers with an easy way to create seamless social marketing campaigns in their local languages.”

According to results from a Constant Contact survey released this month, almost 77 percent of marketers are using social media to promote their brands. Facebook is leading as the most popular tool for advertisers (89%), followed by Twitter (66%) and LinkedIn (54%). On the language front, English only constitutes for 31 percent of all online use, and  the remaining 70 percent of global users visit social websites in their own language.

For this reason, companies are now starting to offer their services in various local languages. Intertainment Media recently revealed that its subsidiary, Ortsbo increased its user base to more than 107 million unique users from Jan. to Feb. 2012, as they offers real-time conversational translation in over 50 languages.

Game Closure, another startup that offers a JavaScript game SDK which runs on a range of devices, recently added analytics and multi-language translation into its game development experience. The company is optimizing its gaming platform for developers to create, host, and deploy HTML5-based, cross-platform, multiplayer games – on iOS, Android, and Facebook.
