SessionM’s Rewarding New Mobile Ad Platform

SessionM, the Boston-based start-up that provides mobile ad solutions, unveiled a new mobile software platform that promises to deliver things like video ads to consumers. The new platform works for Apple’s iOS, Google Android, and the mobile Web.

Lars Albright, co-founder of Quattro Wireless, launched SessionM nearly a year ago.

One of the industry’s biggest problems is the involvement and customer retention. SessionM’s new mobile platform is designed to address that issue. Specifically, the customers of SessionM can create different achievements. The user can use the application to implement specific activities and earn mPoints (reward points). The mPoints can then be redeemed for items such as gift cards, discounts, digital currency, charity donations and other incentives.

“In an increasingly competitive and crowded mobile marketplace, the fight for audience acquisition, retention, and engagement is fierce. Consumers are demanding content and advertising experiences that are fun and engaging, and that also reward them for their time and attention. Our scalable platform helps apps in all categories captivate audiences, make more money, and deliver more valuable advertising experiences,” said Albright.

The company has implemented an HTML5 layer in the application, so the publishers do not need to specifically change the design.  Publishers can then decide what kinds of activities can be rewarded, and even integrate it with other mobile phone platforms, such as gaming, sports, news, beauty, health, games, entertainment and social networks.

SessionM’s platform rollout is being done in partnership with big publishers including Viacom, Demand Media, Glam Media, The Weather Channel, and Fox Sports, and brands such as Honda and Volvo.

HTML5 is turning out to be the industry standard for mobile app developers, as it provides more stable environments for content across platforms. AppMobi, a maker of mobile development solutions, is an early proponent of HTML5-based applications. The company recently introduced a software kit for developers specifically designed to power HTML5-based applications. Now at GDC 2012, the company announced the availability of directCanvas acceleration technology based on HTML5 for the Android mobile operating system.
