Infineta Gets Thumbs Up from Ovum

Infineta Systems, a WAN optimization company that set its eyes on ‘big traffic,’ managed to impress Ovum – an independent research firm that provides IT analysis. The latest Ovum Technology Audit  focuses on Infineta, and the way it aims to differentiates itself from other offerings.

Principal Analyst Roy Illsley said this in an official quote commenting about the company’s Data Mobility Switch:

“We decided to profile Infineta’s approach to WAN optimization because it approaches the key challenges faced by the WAN optimization industry in terms of serving high-end enterprises, and provides organizations with a solution to accelerating their critical traffic between data centers. Our analysis found that Infineta’s DMS is capable of operating at the multi-Gigabit speeds expected, and needed, by applications such as high-speed replication and backup.”

This gives Infineta some extra validation, which is a good thing as more and more vendors are looking to bridge big data and traditional networking infrastructures.

Haseeb Budhani and KVS Ramarao, two top executives in the company, explained their take on networking issues during an interview on theCube (see full video below). The main concept is that Infineta eliminates the added latency created by replication and similar processes designed to reduce it in the first place, all while executing in a fashion that shrinks lag even more. This technology was developed to operate at scale, which means that, in addition to being merely efficient, it can also be leveraged in big data environments handling massive amounts of traffic.

Infineta has also learned its lessons from the cloud. The company implemented a similar model to that of other service providers with the launch of  a pay-as-you-go program that lets customers optimize what they want and then drop it as needed, rather than having to pay the full price.
