ScaleXtreme Bringing Cloud Automation to iOS

ScaleXtreme is a maker of server automation software that has been very busy with R&D over the past few months. The  latest update from the company addresses the mobile and general BYOD trends many of its enterprise clients have likely adopted.

ScaleXtreme’s newest solution is an iPhone app that brings some of the functionality of its flagship data center management software to the IT admin’s mobile phone. A user will receive alerts about various changes and can use the application to monitor system performance, among other things.

“ScaleXtreme for iPhone exemplifies why cloud-based server automation products are better than older on-premise products. Customers are demanding anytime, anywhere access to their IT systems, and ScaleXtreme is delivering,” said ScaleXtreme CEO and co-founder Nand Mulchandani. “Mobility is becoming a central component of any modern IT operation, and the mobile experience is going to be an important part of our product’s future.”

The company has obviously identified the demand for a more flexible administration platform: one that offers IT better access, on top of a broader view as to what’s happening in their environment. More comprehensive functionality overall is required to stay competitive in this market, which is why ScaleXtreme rolled out an extra layer of automation for select customers not too long ago.

And even earlier, the developer gave both versions of its cloud-based platform a big facelift in the form of several UI enhancements, each designed to simplify admins’ job by providing more consolidation. This is one of the main elements in ScaleXtreme’s pitch, which now also encompasses mobile support and automatic updating in addition to everything else the company has been offering.

Automation is getting some positive attention from both clients and vendors. HP’s Gen8 server for one is entirely dedicated to this concept.
