Triple Growth for Software Maker Veeam

The privately held Veeam makes software for virtualized environments, including backup and data recovery, as well as monitoring apps and other solutions. And it has been doing something right so far, according to some new data about its performance in the first quarter of fiscal 2012.

Veeam says that it has added another 5,000 customers in that period, reaching a total of over 37,000. Closer to the bottom line the company reports that it has seen new bookings increase by 103 percent year over year, and that revenue from these licenses more than tripled at 108 percent more than 1Q2011.

“Veeam has seen triple-digit growth each quarter since our founding, and Q1 was a great start for 2012,” said Ratmir Timashev, Veeam CEO. “Our main focus is to provide our customers the #1 VM Backup solution and the best monitoring and reporting for virtual environments, and to ensure our partners have the right tools in place to demonstrate the value of Veeam.”

Another first quarter milestone was the opening of a new office in Baar, Switzerland, designated as the headquarters for the Veeam Software Group’s global operations.

Veeam, which considers itself to be mainly a VMware virtualization partner but expanded to Hyper-V as well with last week’s product launch, is growing its own channel as well. Back in January it entered into an agreement with Coraid, licensing its software for use with the latter’s EthernetDrive SAN storage.

Coraid is trying to address the virtualization trend more effectively by integrated Veeam’s purpose-built backup and recovery tool into its hardware. This partnership may prove even more valuable if the software maker will start supporting Hyper-V across additional parts of its portfolio, beyond the One reporting and monitoring dashboard alone.
