Panzura Hits Revenue, Petabyte Cloud Milestones at InterOp

Two months ago we covered Panzura’s launch of a brand new cloud service  based on the Google Storage PaaS, which, at the time, made it one of the first third party vendors to adopt the technology. Today at InterOp, the company is reporting stellar growth and several milestones, including the launch of an upgraded software component.

Apparently half of the enterprises using Panzura Global Cloud Storage are Fortune 500 companies, with deployments ranging from 100 terabytes to petabyte-scale, and the platform is more popular than ever. Less than a month into Q2 the provider says that revenue has already exceeded sales in the previous quarter.

At the same time Panzura announced that it’s now officially a finalist in the contest over the 2012 ‘Best of Interop’ title, with the credit given to the latest versions of two of the software elements comprising its cloud solution.

The Quicksilver Cloud Storage Controllers and the Panzera Operating System received a major update as well. Quicksilver now features Intelligent Read Cache designed to automate local data management to a somewhat greater extent, in addition to ‘data pinning’ that speeds up accessibility.

PZOS 3.0 also has some additional new functions to show off. Up to 10,000 user-managed snapshots per controller can now be stored, and DR has been harmonized thanks to more efficient backing. The other additions to the software include enhanced reporting for admins, better disk layout across storage systems and the addition of support for IBM and Symantec backup appliances.

“Panzura has developed a new storage paradigm that could transform data management strategies by putting enterprise NAS capabilities into its cloud onramp appliances.  The new features of Panzura 3.0 expand the scalability and performance of the platform and fortify its position as an enterprise on ramp to private and public cloud storage,” said Henry Baltazar, Senior Analyst at 451 Research.
