What to Expect at Dell Storage Forum 2012

This week features the annual Dell Storage Forum, held on Monday to Wednesday, and SiliconANGLE and Wikibon will be at the event to deliver the traditional barrage of executive interviews and commentary with live broadcasts from theCube.  Kicking off this morning, the Dell Storage forum is the company’s latest opportunity to present their products and services in a growing sector, as Dell seeks more relevance in the cloud than in making PCs.

The company released a few details about what it has in store for the gathering. President of enterprise solutions Brad Anderson will be giving the keynote, covering the new products that are scheduled to launch during Storage Forum 2012, and the usual lineup of speeches and hand-on sessions won’t be left out either.  Several other senior Dell execs are attending as well, while Compellent and EqualLogic booths will be the big focus of the hand-on labs scattered throughout the showroom floor.

The channel may be one of the big focuses of the event. According to early speculations Dell may plan to debut a big update to its existing cloud partner program at the event, now that   it is no longer an EMC reseller but one of the top five vendors in this industry.

Some background courtesy of Talking Cloud:

“During a chat last week, Dell Channel Chief Greg Davis dropped hints  the company was set to extend its cloud partner program beyond cloud builders (step 1) to increasingly focus on cloud providers (step 2) and then cloud services opportunities (later this year).

Almost 300 partners have signed up for Storage Forum and it they’re giving back to the ecosystem as well. A few vendors have already sent out announcements revealing this product update or another.

At the same time a lot of customers are attending as well, and some of them will be sharing their case studies and best practices.

SiliconAngle will be at the event this week, so be sure to check back regularly for news, live broadcasts and analysis.
