Google+ for iPad Tops This Week’s Business Tablet App Roundup

A couple days ago Google debuted a G+ app for the iPad that is not merely a tablet-optimized social networking client, but also a very viable tool for business users thanks to one powerful feature. Hangout is a built-in video conferencing widget that allows for high-quality communications between peers using the network, and is joined by several other capabilities that put it on the top of this week’s list.

Google+

Google+ features not only video conferencing but also image syncing – it’s possible to upload a pic from your phone to a G+ album, all from within the app’s reworked interface for the iPad. The application also includes a list of all the top posts from your circles, as well as a location-based element that displays messages from other Google+ users near your geographical location.

iTeleport

iTeleport is a very popular remote desktop application that can connect to Mac and Windows-powered machines alike. It can indirectly support flash content, gives the user full access to their virtual desktop and even features a high-resolution mode.

ShareFile

The latest release of Citrix’s ShareFile is a fairly new addition to iTunes. V2.0.1 launched this week just like Google+ and gives the admin much more control over the safety of the corporate network. The app is now integrated with Active Directory  for better authentication, and it’s possible to choose which files can be opened by third party applications and which can be viewed offline.

Android

Divide

Divide essentially does what VMware’s Horizon Mobile has been doing since last year: it facilitates the creation of two different profiles on a single device – one that contains personal data, and one for work. It’s a mobile hypervisor that support tablets. Divide certainly managed to cover a lot of grounds: the app blocks personal apps from opening any corporate files, and at the same time has a built in mechanism that doesn’t let the IT admin those applications and any other personal content.

Online-Translator Plus

Online-Translator doesn’t leave a lot of room for imagination with its title, and it doesn’t have to either. It’s a very straight-forward translation app that supports 8 different languages including English, has a tablet version, and has a few very neat features. You can filter phrases by field, connect to online dictionaries and there’s even voice translation.
