Symantec Makes Hadoop Ready-Made for the Enterprise

Symantec logoSymantec is the latest company to create an easy-to-use version of Hadoop for companies so they are able to manage Big Data without spending a lot of time and money.   Unlike many data solutions that lack the data management needed to cut the costs of increasing storage, Hadoop offers customers the opportunity to work smarter and not larger by giving them more scalable management to handle a larger workload.

“It’s now entirely possible to get the Big Data Solution you want from the infrastructure you’ve got.”

In order to make Hadoop work, data my be funneled for analysis. By combining existing data, companies are able to save a lot of time and money because the data is not having to  be transformed and extracted to move to another cluster. This process can be painfully expensive otherwise.

“Customers can’t afford to let the challenges of implementing Big Data translate into management challenges within the infrastructure they’ve worked so hard to build,” said Don Angspatt, vice president of product management, Storage and Availability Management Group, Symantec Corp.

Customers that purchased Cluster File System from the Symantec Enterprise Solution for Hadoop are not charged any additional fees to use the system. Hortonworks Data Platform (HDP) 1.0 is supported through Hadoop, so customers will be able to receive training and support through Symantec’s Hadoop partner Hortonworks, which promotes the development and support of Apache Hadoop.

“Hortonworks is excited to partner with Symantec to provide customers robust business analytics without having to rebuild their IT infrastructure,” Mitch Ferguson, vice president of business development, Hortonworks, said.

Symantec helps protect and secure information from all over the world and is currently the leader in global security. All of their products have the ability to protect people’s information in any given place, whether it be on a mobile device or even an enterprise data center.
