From the iPhone 5 Rumor Mill: Churning Faster as September 12 Nears

The world is excited for September 12th, if you don’t know the reason then you might be living under a rock and (a) you’re not aware that Apple may reveal the new iPhone on that day, (b) you’re not an Apple/iPhone fan, or (c) you just don’t care.  The rumors about the new iPhone, dubbed by the media as the iPhone 5, is doing Apple both good and bad.  Bad because iPhone sales slowed down in anticipation of what the fruit-branded company has to offer, and good because according to Forbes, rumors regarding the said device is bringing Apple’s stocks to a new high.

If you’re an avid fan of the iPhone, this piece might just be like your morning coffee – something to start your day right.  So here’s the latest rumors regarding the much anticipated device.

Size

So we’ve heard that the next iPhone will have a bigger screen, so people are expecting a new look for the interior design, but sticking to the overall simplicity of its current design and structure.  UBreakIFix received photos of the front panel of the iPhone 5 from one of their distributors and according to them, the device will have a four-inch screen. But aside from that, no one feature seems to be completely out of the ordinary.

Battery

According to sources and leaked photos, the iPhone 5 will have a battery that has the capacity of 1440 mAh so iPhone lovers will love the juice bump, as many currently complain of speedy battery drainage.  Then again, if it’s going to have a bigger screen, four inches or bigger, with support for 4G LTE, then the juice bump probably won’t make much of a difference.

Dock connector

iResQ published photos of the iPhone 5 and iPad mini repair kits which they claim they’ve been holding onto for some time now.  The photos featured an 8-pin dock connector which reveals that there are “no contact pins on the top side” which could possibly mean that you can now plug your USB cable either way – no more figuring out which way plug your cable, you can connect your device even with your eyes closed.

Other rumors

As for the other juicy bits and pieces regarding the iPhone 5, here’s a quick recap: it’s said to feature a smaller SIM slot than the iPhone 4/4S to accommodate the nano SIM, thinner than the 4/4S because of the in-cell touch panel, a new chip, NFC as they’ve been awarded the patent for iTravel – “a method and system for transportation check-in (e.g.:, ticketing and identification) via near field communication (NFC) using a handheld electronic device, such as a cellular phone or a personal media player”, tougher case presumed to be LiquidMetal, an 8MP or even higher rear camera, and a 2MP front camera.
