

Last Thursday, Splunk Inc., a rising provider of software for real-time operational intelligence, announced it will be broadcasting the company’s third annual users’ conference, .conf2012, in a webcast starting today. The conference kicked off yesterday and will go on until Thursday, September 13 at the Cosmopolitan Hotel in Las Vegas.

In other Splunk news, the company appears to be doing quite well financially as it posted some pretty solid fiscal second-quarter gains and raised the forecast for the fiscal year.
Revenue went up 71 percent to $44.5 million, which was $5 million more than was expected from analysts. Overall, the company’s third-quarter results were better than expected and its full year revenue estimate increased by about $9 million. According to recent reports, the company’s major increase in revenue was due to an increase in customers. Within the last quarter, the company gained 400 more customers. It now has over 4,000 customers in 80 different countries.
The company is now predicting revenue to be between $183 million to $186 million for the fiscal year ending January 31. This new prediction also includes revenue between $45 million to $47 million in the third quarter. Before, the company’s predictions were between $174 million to $177 million.
Analysts’ predictions were pretty close to Splunk’s original predictions. They predicted the company would report revenue at $176.9 million and $44.6 million in the third quarter.
Splunk’s shares rose by $4.65, which means they increased by 15.3 percent.
Splunk’s claim to fame is establishing software that helps businesses collect, analyze, search and organize data for operational and management efficiency. Splunk Storm is the company’s most recent development, which was created for enterprises that run applications in the cloud. One of the Storm’s functions will be to help companies easily identify any business problems that may arise.
