Survey Says: People Are Happy In the Cloud

The Everest Group and  Cloud Connect have released the results of their enterprise cloud adaption trends survey and created a handy infographic that summarizes the findings. The verdict: businesses are overwhelmingly embracing the cloud. Over 85 percent of respondents had already deployed or planned to deploy a cloud-based solution, and most had a positive attitude toward cloud computing.

The survey, which included responses from cloud buyers, service providers and advisors (e.g. consultants), had several other interesting findings.Software-as-a-service (SaaS) have the highest adoption rate, with 57 buyers indicating they had already implemented a solution and 28 percent planning adoption in the near future. SaaS will continue to be important, but IaaS adoption is expected to grow fastest in the near future. Cloud computing is maturing and the reasons for adoption have expanded beyond low hanging fruit like email. Businesses are beginning to leverage the cloud more for activities like disaster recover and business intelligence.

In addition, although providers think cost is the main driver for cloud adoption, organizational leaders view the cloud’s ability to reduce time to market and increase business agility by providing flexible infrastructure capacity as the key benefits. Security and integration concerns continue to be a major areas for concern, but overall, an overwhelming majority of cloud buyers expressed high levels of satisfaction on their cloud implementations.

The complete survey results are available from the Everest Group.
