Apple CEO Apologizes For Maps Kerfuffle, Recommends Google Maps

Apple has been under fire since they released the iOS 6 which features a new version of Maps.

Everything seems well with iOS 6 except for the Maps as users noticed that there were a lot of misplaced towns, cities and businesses, aside from the many errors that occurred when using the new mapping system.

Users are capable of reporting errors, of course, and as more users report and identify those mapping errors (and corrections come in) the better the app will become. Apple also released a statement stating that they’re aware of the issue and they’re doing everything to address it.

But unfortunately, that doesn’t stop Apple-haters from bashing the new app.  Even Google Executive Chairman Eric Schmidt talked about the app stating that Apple should have stuck with Google Maps as they could have save themselves from a lot of embarrassment.  He also stated that a Google Maps app is nowhere in the near future of the iPhone 5 and the iOS 6 since they haven’t done anything with it but they’ve been in contact with Apple about it.  Of course, what Schmidt said was interpreted as they haven’t made a Google Maps app for iOS yet; they did make one but haven’t submitted it to Apple for approval; or they did submit the app and they’re just waiting for Apple to approve it.

Anyway, with all these Apple Maps bashing happening around, Apple CEO Tim Cook issued an apology to all their consumers stating that all they wanted was to keep giving the best for them but failed and they are doing everything to fix the problem.

“At Apple, we strive to make world-class products that deliver the best experience possible to our customers. With the launch of our new Maps last week, we fell short on this commitment. We are extremely sorry for the frustration this has caused our customers and we are doing everything we can to make Maps better.

“We launched Maps initially with the first version of iOS. As time progressed, we wanted to provide our customers with even better Maps including features such as turn-by-turn directions, voice integration, Flyover and vector-based maps. In order to do this, we had to create a new version of Maps from the ground up,” Cook said in a post on Apple’s site.

Though the Maps have been brutalized by users, Cook also stated that there are already over a hundred million devices using iOS 6 and more joining every day with already half a billion location searches made on the Maps.  This just means though Apple users are pissed at the new Maps, they’re not about to give up their precious iDevice.

People can stop talking trash about Maps, Cook knows how bad it is.  He even recommended downloading alternative map apps from the App Store like Bing, MapQuest and Waze, and even suggested using Google or Nokia maps on their mobile browsers and create an icon on the iDevice’s home screen to their web app, while Apple does its best to improve Maps.  How screwed up is that?  Endorsing the company you wanted so badly to cut ties with?  Well, at least they admitted how awful their app is, I guess people can now start moving on?
