IBM IOD 2012: Big Data, Enterprise Content Management

IBM Information OnDemand 2012 is just kicking off, but that didn’t stop a few demonstrators from getting their updates out there in advance.

One of the vendors that has reserved a booth at the event is Nominum, a developer of IP management software. According to a release fresh this morning the company has achieved IBM Big Data and IBM PureSystems Business Partner status, which is great news for network operators that use solutions from both firms.

Thanks to the partnership the DNS data that flows through Nominum’s applications will be more easily accessible from IBM InfoSphere BigInsights and InfoSphere Streams, Big Blue’s big data tools. This integration will enable users to gain a better understanding of their networking environments.

“The work we have done with Nominum’s IDEAL ecosystem expands our analytics options for customers and significantly improves a previously time intensive process, in addition to providing them with deeper, quicker insights,” said Bruce Weed program director at IBM Big Data. “Our customers produce massive amounts of data and Nominum’s technology is powerful enough to process the vast size while also producing actionable insights that are easy to incorporate into applications.”

Dataguise, which pegs itself as a  data security intelligence  firm, is also attending IOD 2012. The company will showcase DG for Hadoop, a protection and monitoring solution that doesn’t impact performance and scalability in enterprise-scale deployments of the frameworks.

Analytics is a big focus at the conference, as is IBM FileNet. So far two different partners announced new software that supplements the content management platform:

Informative Graphics Corporation debut Brava! 7.1, a document viewer that allows users to view, edit and share files on FileNet P8. The new version features an HTML5 client, better performance thanks to a backend cache tweak, and a social threaded discussions feature.

In turn, RGB Projects unveiled the Mobile Credit Application.  The app, which will be available on “u on most mobile devices,” enables employees to apply for credit from corporate at any location with much greater convenience.
