An Ego Boost for EMC with Recognition at TSIA 2012

EMC logoStorage vendor EMC got a huge ego boost at the most recent Technology Services Industry Association conference, where it received two new awards and a meta-trophy for performance over time.

The company picked up STAR Awards in two categories: Innovation in Enabling Customer Success and Innovation in Product Supportability. The former was given in recognition of EMC’s commitment to “putting the voice of the customer at the center of every initiative,” while the latter achievement was awarded for successfully integrating VNXe storage system into its portfolio.

The firm has raked in 21 Star wins to date, and got its fourth entry to the TSIA Hall of Fame thanks to these two latest awards.

Howard Elias, the president and COO of EMC’s info infrastructure and cloud services unit, said the following in a prepared statement:

“It’s an honor to be recognized by TSIA for our continued focus on innovation and customer success in Global Services. Since our inception, a customer-centric culture has been engrained in EMC’s DNA. We’re continually transforming to meet the next wave of IT challenges so that our customers can more quickly realize and maximize the benefits of EMC technologies.”

The storage giant is working on strengthening this corporate DNA via both organic and non-organic expansion. It acquired a big data startup called Silver Tail just now the goal of strengthening its RSA security business. Mike Wheatley has the scoop, while Wikibon analyst Stu Miniman provides further insight.

Silver Tail develops software that detects anomalies among users who visit your website. Once the deal goes through sometime later this year, EMC will integrate the firm’s technology with RSA’s Identity Protection and Verification portfolio.

Several major financial institutions already use Silver Tail’s solution to detect online threats; clients that EMC is set to inherit with the transaction.
